Rio is my WONDERFUL little kitty! I love him very, very much and
he has been everything in the world to me ever since I first laid eyes on him
when he was only 1 month old, 1 year and a 1/2 ago. Then just a few months ago,
something happened that has devastated my life. He slipped outside one night
and got in a cat fight. He showed up back home with cuts all over his face,
bite marks in the top of his head, and he was MISSING his dew claw
("thumb"). I rushed him to the Vet and they helped me clean him up,
and then put him into surgery for his missing toe. A few months later, under
the Vet's advice, I had Rio tested for Leukemia and FIV (Feline Immunodeffiency
Virus---cat version of HIV), both of which are transferred through bite wounds.
Rio came back positive for FIV. There is no cure, only time will tell how much
longer he has before AIDS begins taking his life. He must be kept from any and
all potential harm and illnesses, lest he catch nothing more than a
"cold" and die because his body can no longer fight infection. I need
your help. I need the necessary shelter, prescriptions, tools, ANYTHING that
may keep him safe and as healthy as possible. Even the smallest of
donations would help. I can't afford to do this on my own. I am at the mercy of
caring animal lovers who are willing to donate a dollar to keeping Rio well.
Please read the link above explaining more about FIV and visit Rio's photo
album to view more pictures. Thank you!
